If you are looking for an excellent proofreader, regardless of browsers or installations, you can rely on the Stilus, which has above-average resources compared to most proofreaders you can find online.
Example: Analyzing the revision of the phrase "Quero irme a Brasil e huir junto a ti" (excerpt from the song Quiero irme a Brasil, where deliberately some mistakes were added), Stilus correctly suggested replacing the "e" with "y" ("y huir"), but failed surprisingly in not indicating the problem with "Quero" (probably because the word "quero", an Inca ceremonial vase, also exists in Spanish). Already the corrector-ortografico detected and suggested "Quiero" among the possible substitutions, but ignored the "e". Stilus uses more complex checking algorithms (not just dictionary checking) and is able to suggest that "vámonos" is the most suitable substitution for "bámonos" and do some grammar and style checks in addition to spelling.
Another example? For average online proofreaders, who check only the correct spelling of words, the phrase "Nueve personas salió de fiestas" has no problem at all; but the incorrect concordance / conjugation is detected by Stilus, who suggests "Nueve personas salieron de fiestas" or "Nueve personas salimos de fiestas".
Stilus can be used for free, but a brief registration is required. Other proofreader that deserves special mention is the SpanishChecker, which provides a justification for the suggested corrections, although this requires some knowledge on the part of the user to decide what changes to make or not.
